We go to work, feed the kids (recommended multiple times a day), clean the house, shop for groceries, do laundry and put it all away. Whew! And, now that it’s summer, there’s mowing, planting, gardening, landscaping, more mowing, and somehow fit in a few camping trips or a vacation. If it’s not just me, there are also the extra things you’d like to achieve but without enough hours in the day. We occupy our day to day lives with so much “stuff”.
It was suggested I read a book about sloths that explains why we should take their cues. I admit, I recently purchased one but have barely gotten a page or two into it so far. I haven’t read a book that wasn’t a baby board book in a long while. There’s not enough time!
I am excited to hear it reiterated that we don’t need to accomplish so much every day. That accomplishing all the tasks on our to-do list will merely make us tired. Okay, I really don’t know exactly what the book states yet. However, I do know we need to slow down and enjoy all the little things life has to offer. To remember that time flies whether you are having fun or not.
Taking care of ourselves and slowing down is a necessity for our mental and physical health. Take a moment to observe what’s going on around you and breathe.
